Converter Housing

Disassemble

1. Remove park pawl assembly.

2. Remove pump attaching bolts, pump, filter, pump gears and wear plate.




3. Inspect output shaft bearing, if damaged remove bearing using tool Nos. SA91113T and SA9173G, or equivalents.

4. Remove converter seal retaining ring, then remove seal.




5. Remove converter bearing retaining ring, then using bearing tool Nos. SA91113T and SA9173G, or equivalents, remove bearing.




6. Using suitable screwdriver, remove axle seal dust cover, install seal removal tool No. SA9113T, or equivalent, through steel seal body as close to outside diameter as possible, then remove seal.

Assemble

1. Ensure all passages are clean and open.

2. Using tool No. SA9114T, or equivalent, press converter bearing into housing, then install snap ring.

3. Using tool No. SA91O7T, or equivalent, install torque converter seal, then snap ring.




4. If a new output shaft roller bearing is being installed, install press tool No. SA9l 29T and pad tool No. SA1991Ti, or equivalents.

5. Press in output shaft bearing flush or below converter housing surface, using suitable straightedge or feeler gauge ensure bearing is straight in bore, check bearing race at four points, all points should be within 0.0016 inch of each other.

6. Using suitable bolt to pull dowel pin into housing as required.

7. Install pump/filter assembly.




8. Install pump attaching bolts, then tighten to specifications in sequence shown.

9. Install stator shaft, then tighten attaching bolts to specifications.

10. Place stator shaft needle bearing to stator shaft and lube.

11. Clean bolt threads and apply thread sealer No. 242 P/N 21485277, then install park pawl assembly and tighten

12. Install park lever actuator rod; rod end with two tangs fits into lever.

13. Install pump to case O-ring seal.

14. Install differential assembly, lube bearing outer race, then lower into converter housing.
