Differential

Disassemble

1. Remove roll pin from differential housing, then remove pinion shaft.

2. Rotate pinions from housing to remove.

3. Remove side gears.

4. Remove housing liner.

5. Remove differential side bearing as follows:

a. Using suitable bearing puller, remove speed sensor side bearing.

b. Using suitable two jaw puller, remove differential side gear bearing. Place suitable shield over bearing to prevent personal injury should bearing break.

Assemble

1. Using tool No. SA9120T, or equivalent, press differential bearing to case. Right side (speed side) differential bearing has black colored cage. All replacement service bearings are interchangeable and have a black cage.

2. Roll up the differential thrust liner and insert into differential case. Position liner inside case, ensuring side gear section with alignment tabs sets into ring gear side of case pocket.

3. Place side gears in housing and hold position.

4. Install pinion to thrust liner tabbed side, then pull thrust liner partially over pinion gear to hold in place.

5. Place second pinion in position, opposite first pinion, then rotate thrust liner until cover pinion shaft hole and pinions align.

6. Rotate pinions and thrust liner assembly into housing until aligned with pinion shaft bore in housing, ensure side gears are in proper location.

7. Install pinion shaft and new roll pin, ensuring drive roll pin is flush with case.
