Actuator Electrical Operation Inspection

All actuators are turned off electrically to provide clutch apply. The line pressure actuator is turned off electrically to provide maximum pressure boost or maximum line pressure. Normally the line actuator is pressure actuator width modulated to provide line pressure in a range between minimum and maximum line pressure. The torque converter clutch (TCC) actuators operate in opposition to the gear actuator. When the actuator is turned off electrically, the TCC is turned off. The actuators are turned off electrically in the gear shown. when no notation is made, the actuator is on and the line actuator is always modulating.

1. Perform actuator electrical operation inspection as follows:

a. Using suitable jumper wire, connect ALDL terminal A to B.

b. With key one, engine off, move selector lever to check corresponding actuators. Selector position D2 will activate 2nd actuator, position D3 will activate 3rd actuator, position D4 will activate 4th actuator, position R will activate TCC actuator and position N will activate line actuator.

c. When the gear selector is moved, the actuator will modulate at a set duty cycle from 19 seconds then turn on, off and repeat. This will be indicated by an audible click.

d. Refer to image for actuator resistance specifications.
