Actuator Quick Check with Scan Tool

AUDIBLE QUICK CHECK FOR ACTUATORS USING THE PORTABLE DIAGNOSTIC TOOL

Procedure:
1. Using a Scan tool, verify all selector switch (P, R, N, 3, and 2) readings are correct.
2. Remove the 1OA-#15 Body fuse located in the instrument panel junction block.
3. Using the flat spade male connectors from the Saturn Connector Test Adapter Kit SA9206Z, jump the fuel pump probe hole to the B+ terminal of the body fuse.
4. Key On, engine Off, access the actuator test located in the special test menu and follow test procedures.

The PCM will pulse width modulate (PWM) the actuator at a set duty cycle for about six seconds. Listen and compare the noise of the suspected bad actuators. They should all be similar. If the noise coming from the suspected bad actuator is faint or not present, replace the actuator.

NOTE: Prior to replacing any actuator, check all connections at the actuator and connector plate.
