Air Cleaner Housing and Duct Assembly

REMOVAL

Air Cleaner Duct Clamp:

1. Open clamp at throttle body by compressing tangs on the spring clamp. The clamp will lock in the open position when the tangs are compressed sufficiently to engage the locking tab.
2. Disconnect fresh air hose at cam cover.
3. Remove air cleaner housing cover and clean air inlet tube.

NOTE: Removing this assembly provides access to the EGR valve, coolant sensors, fuel rail, fuel lines and regulator, fuel system Schrader valve, upper starter bolt, cannister purge solenoid, ignition module, and PRNDL switch.

4. Disconnect electrical connector at the intake air temperature (IAT) sensor.
5. Remove plastic fastener at top of resonator and remove resonator.
6. Remove the three air box fasteners and remove assembly.
7. Inspect assembly for cracks or damage. A damaged assembly can cause noise. Replace if cracked or damaged. The air box has a hole in the bottom for water drainage. The hole must be free of debris.



INSTALLATION
1. Install the air box assembly and assembly attaching screws.

Torque to 10 N.m (89 in-lbs)

2. Connect electrical connector at the intake air temperature (IAT) sensor.
3. Install the resonator. Insert the end of the resonator into the air box assembly opening.
4. Install the resonator push in plastic fastener.

Air Cleaner Duct Clamp:

5. Install air cleaner tube and air box cover. Attach air box clips and close clamp at throttle body. This can be performed by striking the tab on the spring clamp with an object such as a screwdriver. The locking tab will disengage and the clamp will spring into the closed position.

Air Cleaner Housing:

6. Connect fresh air hose at cam cover.
