Component Circuits Diagnosis

SIR/Cruise/Turn Coil Assembly
Check resistance through coil assembly by measuring voltage at horn switch and rotating steering wheel.
Check for OPENS/SHORTS.
Repair as needed.
If this component is good go to the next item indicated on the Complaint-Condition Chart.

Horn Switches (Contact Plates)
Check resistance through horn switches. The switch resistance should be less than 1 ohm when the horn pad is depressed and open when the horn pad is not depressed.
Check for OPENS/SHORTS.
Repair/replace as needed.
If this component is good go to the next item indicated on the Complaint-Condition Chart.

Horn
Check resistance through the horn. Horn resistance should be 2 to 4 ohms.
Check for OPENS/SHORTS.
Repair as needed.
If this component is good go to the next item indicated on the Complaint-Condition Chart.

Horn Assembly and Bracket
The horn operates over a battery input range of: 9-14 V at -25 °C (-13 °F) to 10-15 V at 75 °C (167 °F).
Sound Level: 95 db (measure at 2 meters in front of vehicle)
Frequency: 380 Hz - 420 Hz
Musical Note: G-G# (sharp)
Operation Range: 9-14 V DC at -25 degrees °C (-13 degrees °F)
10-15 V DC at 75 degrees °C (167 degrees °F)
