Sunroof - Sunshade Material Separates From Sunroof

SUBJECT:
Sunroof Sunshade Fabric Material Separates From Sunroof Sunshade at Front and Rear Edges (Re-attach Sunroof Sunshade Fabric)

Due to changes in the subject line, this bulletin is being revised and supercedes bulletin 98-T-47, which should be discarded.

MODELS AFFECTED:
1996-1999 Saturn Sedans and 1997-1999 Saturn Coupes equipped with factory installed sunroof (CF5 option)

CONDITION:
Under normal operating conditions, sunroof sunshade fabric begins to separate from sunroof sunshade.

CAUSE:
Improper adhesion between sunroof sunshade fabric and sunroof sunshade.

CORRECTION:
Re-attach fabric using the following procedure.

PROCEDURE:

1. Remove sunroof sunshade from vehicle. Refer to "Sunroof Sunshade" in the Body/Repair Service Manual.

2. Place sunroof sunshade on a clean bench.

3. Remove old adhesive using a razor blade.

4. Cover areas that should not have adhesive applied to them.

5. Apply 3M(R) General Trim Adhesive (P/N 8088), or equivalent, to attaching side of fabric and attaching side of sunroof sunshade. Follow manufacturer's instructions for drying and application.

6. Install sunroof sunshade in vehicle. Refer to "Sunroof Sunshade" in the Body/Repair Service Manual.
