Sunroof Sunshade Binds or Rattles in Tracks and/or Sunroof Rattles
(Install New Sunshade Bumpers and Repair Rattles)
Due to the addition of 1998 vehicles, added information and new service procedures, this bulletin supercedes bulletin 97-T-25, which should be discarded.
MODELS AFFECTED:
1996-1998 Saturn Sedans and 1997-1998 Coupes equipped with factory sunroof option (CF5).
IMPORTANT:
For VIN breakpoints, refer to VIN breakpoints listed under "CAUSE."
CONDITION:
Sunroof sunshade may bind or rattle in the tracks during operation. There may also be rattles from other various locations in the sunroof.
CAUSE:
There are four possible causes for the sunshade binding or rattles in the track and/or sunroof. These causes, and the model years of the vehicles affected by these causes are:
1. Sunroof sunshade stops become deformed or dislodged during use, causing rattles and/or binding.

^ 1996-1997 Sedans and 1998 Sedans built before and including VIN WZ115345
2. Black plastic cable tubing is misrouted.

3. Rear beam tabs loose at side rails.
^ 1997 Coupes built before and including VIN VZ356663
^ 1996-1998 Sedans built before and including VIN WZ147299
4. Sunshade contacting rear drain channel in center.
^ 1997 Coupes built before and including VIN VZ358909
^ 1996-1998 Sedans
CORRECTION
Install new sunroof sunshade bumpers and correct rattles as described in the following procedures.
