Front Exhaust Pipe and Converter to Intermediate Pipe Gasket
CAUTION: MAKE SURE VEHICLE IS PROPERLY SUPPORTED AND SQUARELY POSITIONED PRIOR TO LIFTING. TO HELP AVOID PERSONAL INJURY WHEN A VEHICLE IS ON A HOIST PROVIDE ADDITIONAL SUPPORT FOR THE VEHICLE ON THE OPPOSITE END FROM WHICH COMPONENTS ARE BEING REMOVED. MAKE SURE HOIST DOES NOT CONTACT FUEL OR BROKEN LINES.REMOVAL
Vehicle Lifting:
1. Raise vehicle squarely on a lift.
Exhaust Installation:
2. Remove front exhaust pipe-to-engine stiffener bracket fasteners and loosen the clamp nut and slide clamp forward.
3. Remove the front exhaust pipe fasteners at manifold and discard gasket.
Converter Installation:
4. Remove the three fasteners at the rear of the three way catalytic converter.
5. Remove the two isolators and front pipe/three way catalytic converter assembly.
INSTALLATION
1. Clean the intermediate pipe-to-three way catalytic converter flange surface.
2. Install a new gasket on the three way catalytic converter outlet pipe and front pipe/three way catalytic converter assembly.
3. Make sure the three way catalytic converter gasket is properly located and install the three intermediate pipe-to-three way catalytic converter fasteners.
- Torque: 31 N.m (23 ft-lbs.)
4. Install the two three way catalytic converter isolators.
5. Install new exhaust pipe to manifold gasket on the studs.
6. Install and torque the exhaust pipe to manifold attachment fasteners.
- Torque: 31 N.m (23 ft-lbs.)
7. Install the two front exhaust pipe-to-engine stiffener bracket fasteners and slide the clamp rearward, if removed.
- Torque Front Exhaust Pipe Support Bracket-to-Engine Stiffener Bracket to 31 N.m (23 ft-lbs)
- Torque Clamp-to-Front Exhaust Pipe and Support Bracket to 60 N.m (44 ft-lbs)
8. Check the entire exhaust system for leaks.
