Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.

Warranty Information

This warranty applies only when purchased as a retail transaction. (Retail Transaction is defined as customer paying all or any portion of transaction.) Policy/Goodwill adjustments where the purchaser participates and Saturn Service Plan repairs, (or other service contract), are eligible for the longer consumer warranty. Coverage does not apply when replaced during the New Vehicle Limited Warranty period.

Both Parts and labor are covered.

This warranty will remain in effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles (60,000 km), whichever comes first, from the date and mileage of the installation as shown on the original Customer Service Order (CSO).

A customer can take the vehicle to any Saturn Retailer to have the warranty honored.

A Saturn Retailer must perform all extended warranty repairs.

This warranty does not cover over-the-counter sales. Over-the-Counter sales will be covered by the standard parts warranty of 12 months from the date of the retail sale.

Note:
See Extended Saturn Parts Warranty Document included with Saturn Parts & Accessories Bulletin # 02-PA-03 for a complete description of program guidelines.

Warranty Document Procurement and Handling Instructions

Each Parts Manager will receive an initial distribution of 100 warranty documents. Store these documents near the Cashier's work area and instruct the Cashier to fill out the following required fields on the warranty document: Retailer Name, CSO #, CSO date, Mileage, and Customer Name. The Cashier should also check off the appropriate box indicating which part was installed. Attach the customer's copy of the CSO to the warranty document. Give this warranty document to each customer who has a Saturn remanufactured engine installed at a Saturn Retailer.

It is important to stress the need for the customer to keep the warranty document and CSO to validate warranty. (Preferably with their owner's handbook and other glove compartment literature).

Additional warranty documents can be obtained from Saturn Publications at 1-800-828-2112, prompt 3. Refer to item SO32003RBP at the bottom of the warranty document when ordering.

Warranty Validation

When a customer brings the CSO from the original repair, with or without the warranty document, verify the customer's warranty claim is valid by checking the CSO date and mileage.

If a customer, whose previous service was completed at this Retailer, brings only the warranty document or no documentation at all, verify with a copy of the original CSO from the retailer records that the customers warranty claim is valid by checking CSO date and mileage. If the customer brings only the warranty document and the customer's previous service was completed at a different retailer, verify through a National Vehicle History (NVH) search that the warranty is valid by checking CSO date and mileage. If the customer brings no documentation and customer's service was completed at a different retailer, verify through a National Vehicle History search that the warranty is valid by checking CSO date and mileage.

Warranty Processing and Document Retention

The 36 months or 36,000 mile remanufactured warranty begins at the time the remanufactured engine or automatic transaxle is sold to a CSO based on criteria described under warranty coverage above. Any subsequent repairs or replacement of a Saturn remanufactured engine covered by the warranty during the warranty period will be reimbursed via submittal of a claim using the "PE" case type and the associated repair/replace labor operations from the Saturn Labor Time Guide. The retailer is entitled to the cost of the part (minus any applicable core value) plus 40% and stated labor time as published in the Saturn Labor Time Guide.

Keep the customer warranty document attached to the hardcopy of the CSO in your files. If you have any questions with this warranty, please contact your Retail Reimbursement Representative at 1-800-828-2112, prompt 7, prompt 3.
