Removal







REMOVAL
1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
2. Drain cooling system.
3. Raise vehicle.





4. Move clamps up heater core hoses.

WARNING: MAKE SURE VEHICLE IS PROPERLY SUPPORTED AND SQUARELY POSITIONED. TO HELP AVOID PERSONAL INJURY WHEN A VEHICLE IS ON A HOIST, PROVIDE ADDITIONAL SUPPORT FOR THE VEHICLE ON THE OPPOSITE END FROM WHICH COMPONENTS ARE BEING REMOVED.





5. Remove hoses from heater core.

NOTICE: Blow remainder of coolant out of heater core with an air hose to prevent spilling coolant on vehicle interior when removing heater core.





6. Remove left and right lower trim panel extensions by pulling outward at dual lock locations. Then rotate panels outward to disengage hinges from console.





7. Remove I/P lower closeout panel by pulling out at the top edge and then rotating the top downward.





8. Remove screws and clips on lower heater duct.
9. Drop heater duct straight down and carefully slide out sideways.

CAUTION: Take care not to damage heater duct-to-rear floor heater duct seal.





10. Release temperature cable hold down clip from lower heater core cover by carefully lifting up on plastic tab while pushing down on top of cable.
11. Slide cable off of temperature door hook.
12. Remove temperature cable. (Service linkage shown in illustration.)





13. Remove screw and heater core side cover.





14. Remove screws and lower heater core cover.





15. Remove screw and lower heater core retainer.
16. Remove heater core.
