Clutch Fluid: Testing and Inspection

NOTICE: Carefully clean the cap and sides of the reservoir before removing the cap to prevent contamination of the system with dirt, water, or other foreign material.

1. Remove the clutch hydraulic reservoir cap.
2. Measure clutch hydraulic system fluid level with the slave cylinder installed in the transaxle clutch housing, the fluid level in the clutch hydraulic reservoir should be within 9 - 12 mm (0.354 - 0.470 inch) from the top of the clutch hydraulic reservoir.

IMPORTANT: A fluid loss in the system could indicate a leak. Check the clutch hydraulic system for leaks and replace if necessary.

NOTICE: Only DOT 3 brake fluid should be used in the clutch hydraulic system. Do not use any hydraulic oils or DOT 5 silicone brake fluid in the clutch hydraulic system. These fluids will cause damage to the internal component of the clutch hydraulic system requiring it to be replaced.

3. Add DOT 3 hydraulic brake fluid as required.

NOTICE: The diaphragm on the clutch hydraulic reservoir cap must be fully extended prior to installing the cap on the reservoir.

4. Place the cap on the hydraulic reservoir.
