Door Locks: Service and Repair





REMOVAL
1. Remove trim panel. Outer panel is removed in illustration to show location.
2. Disconnect rods from inside handle assembly.
3. Disconnect rods from door lock.
4. Remove screws and remove door lock.

NOTE: The rod retaining clips used in the door lock levers and door lock cylinder pawls are not reusable. Retention characteristics are minimized once a rod is extracted. Clips must be replaced every time a rod is extracted.

INSTALLATION
1. If installing old door lock, replace all rod retaining clips in door lock.
2. Install door lock with screws.
3. Connect rods to door lock and door retainers.
4. Tighten door lock fasteners.
a. Tighten top screw first.
b. Tighten lower inboard screw second.
c. Tighten lower outboard screw last.

Torque: 11 N.m (97 in-lbs)

IMPORTANT: Check for proper adjustment. There should be no tension on pivot or door lock.


5. Install door trim panel.
