Removal





1. Remove air induction system. [Double Overhead Cam (DOHC) shown, Single Overhead Camshaft (SOHC) similar.]





2. Disconnect negative battery cable from battery.
3. Disconnect positive battery cable from battery.
4. Remove hold-down retaining nut (1) and screws (2), and lift off battery hold-down retainer (3).
5. Lift the battery of vehicle, and place in a safe location.





6. Remove battery tray.

IMPORTANT: One bolt is located in the fender well.





7. Disconnect back-up light electrical connector.
8. Place transaxle in neutral.
9. Remove shift control housing retaining bolts.
10. Remove housing and gasket.
