Liftgate Outside Handle Replacement

Removal Procedure





1. Remove the lift gate pull handle plugs.
2. Remove the fasteners and the lift gate pull handle.
3. Remove the lift gate trim panel retainers.
4. Remove the trim panel.
5. Remove the license plate lamp harness connector.




6. Remove the lift gate lock and the handle retaining nuts.
7. Remove the lift gate lock cylinder and let hang.




8. Release the license plate lamp retaining tabs then pull the lift gate handle straight out.



Installation Procedure





1. Install the lift gate outside handle to the lift gate making sure that the license plate lamp retaining tabs lock in place.
2. Position the lift gate lock cylinder onto the lift gate outside handle studs.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

3. Install the nuts and tighten.

Tighten the lift gate lock cylinder-to-lift gate nuts to 3 N.m (27 lb in).

4. Install the license plate lamp harness connector.
5. Position the lift gate trim panel to the lift gate.
6. Secure to the structure by pushing at the retainer locations.
7. Install the trim panel retainers.
8. Install the lift gate pull handle using the fasteners.

Tighten the lift gate pull handle fasteners to 5 N.m (44 lb in).

9. Install the lift gate pull handle plugs.
