Preparation

IMPORTANT: Before disconnecting negative battery cable, make sure that the customer's radio theft deterrent system has been deactivated. If the system is in the "SECURE" state, refer to "Theft Deterrent Feature" procedure to deactivate this feature.
1. Record preset radio stations.
2. Disconnect negative battery terminal.

CAUTION: WHEN PERFORMING SERVICE ON OR NEAR SIR COMPONENTS OR SIR WIRING, FOLLOW THE PROCEDURES LISTED AT THE BEGINNING OF THIS SERVICE MANUAL TO TEMPORARILY DISABLE THE SIR SYSTEM. FAILURE TO FOLLOW PROCEDURES COULD RESULT IN POSSIBLE AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT, PERSONAL INJURY, OR OTHERWISE UNNEEDED SIR SYSTEM REPAIRS.




3. Disable the SIR System.
