27. Input Carrier Pinion Gear Clearance Check

IMPORTANT: Replace input carrier if pinion gear clearance is out of specification. Pinion gears are permanently assembled to the carrier and are not serviced individually.

1. Measure pinion gear end play for proper clearance. Use a feeler gage. The clearance should be 0.24 - 0.69 mm (0.01 - 0.027 inch).
2. Inspect the reaction internal gear and input carrier assembly for damage or excessive wear. Specifically inspect condition of pinion gears, washers, and thrust bearings.
3. Clean and dry each component.
