Throttle Position Sensor: Service and Repair




REMOVAL

NOTE: The Throttle Position (TP) sensor is an electrical component, and must not be soaked in any liquid solvent or damage may result.

1. Disconnect electrical connector.
2. Remove Throttle Position (TP) sensor attachment screws and Throttle Position (TP) sensor.

INSTALLATION
1. Clean O-ring sealing surfaces and throttle shaft.
2. Install O-ring to Throttle Position (TP) sensor.
3. With throttle body valve closed, install throttle position (TP) sensor over throttle shaft.
a. Install Throttle Position (TP) sensor to throttle shaft at a slight counterclockwise angle to mounting holes.
b. Rotate Throttle Position (TP) sensor clockwise to seat alignment pin and to align mounting holes.
4. Apply Loctite(R) 242 Threadlocker (or equivalent) to the attachment screw threads. Install Throttle Position (TP) sensor attachment screws.

Torque: 2 N.m (18 in-lbs)

5. Connect electrical connector.
