Flex Plate: Service and Repair



REMOVAL

- Tools Required
- SA9140E Torque/Angle Meter
- J 42098 Crank Hub Torx Socket





1. Remove the transmission. Refer to "Transmission Assembly" in "Transmission and Drivetrain".
2. Use the J 42098 to counter hold the crankshaft to remove the flexplate bolts.
3. Remove the flexplate from the crankshaft.
4. Clean the rear crankshaft flange

INSTALLATION





1. Install the flexplate to the crankshaft.

IMPORTANT:
- - Use new flex plate bolts.
- - Coat the new flex plate bolts with Loctite (R) 272 Threadlocker or equivalent.

2. Install flywheel bolts.
- Torque:
Use J42098 to counter hold crankshaft.
Use the SA9140E to tighten the flex plate bolts to 5 Nm (48 ft. lbs.) + 30° + 15°
3. Install the transmission. Refer to "Transaxle Assembly" procedure in "Transmission and Drivetrain".
