CD Changer/Player Installation (RIA)

PREPARATION

IMPORTANT: Before disconnecting negative battery cable, make sure that the customer's radio theft deterrent system has been deactivated. If the system is in the "SECURE" state,

1. Record preset radio stations.
2. Disconnect negative battery terminal.

CAUTION: WHEN PERFORMING SERVICE ON OR AROUND SIR COMPONENTS OR SIR WIRING, FOLLOW THE PROCEDURES LISTED AT RESTRAINT SYSTEMS TO TEMPORARILY DISABLE THE SIR SYSTEM. FAILURE TO FOLLOW PROCEDURES COULD RESULT IN POSSIBLE AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT PERSONAL INJURY OR OTHERWISE UNNEEDED SIR SYSTEM REPAIRS.

3. Disable the SIR System.

CONSOLE REMOVAL




4. Apply parking brake lever.
5. Remove power window/mirror switch, if equipped.
a. Exert pressure on rear with hand.
b. Pry up with blunt tool at rear retainer assembly tabs.




c. Lift up and out.
d. Disconnect electrical connectors by locating retention tabs and disengaging connectors.




6. Adjust front seats to most forward position.
7. Remove rear console screws.




8. Adjust front seats to most rearward position.
9. Remove left and right lower trim panel extensions by pulling outward at dual lock locations.
10. Rotate panels outward to disengage hinges from console.




11. Remove front console screws.
12. Move console rearward.
13. Disengage retaining tabs and disconnect power outlet connector.




14. On automatic transaxle equipped vehicles, press and tape gear selector button in to clear shifter opening.
15. Select neutral for transaxle gear (on automatic transaxle).
16. Maneuver console beyond gear selector and parking brake by lifting rear of console.
17. Remove console from vehicle.
