Alternator: Service and Repair

GENERATOR ASSEMBLY

REMOVAL




1. Disconnect negative battery cable.
2. Remove throttle body air duct.
3. Remove accessory drive belt.
4. Disconnect positive battery cable connection at generator.
5. Remove generator to engine block bolts.

INSTALLATION
1. Position generator and install top bolts finger tight.
2. Install bottom bolts and tighten all generator bolts.

Torque:
Generator-to-Engine Block Bolts: 20 N.m (15 ft-lbs)

3. Connect positive battery cable connection at generator.

Torque:
Positive Battery Cable-to-Generator Nut: 16 N.m (12 ft-lbs)

4. Install accessory drive belt.




5. Install throttle body air duct.
6. Connect negative battery cable.

Torque:
Battery Terminal Bolts: 17 N.m (13 ft-lbs)
