Front Door: Adjustments

Front Side Door Adjustment

1. Note the original position of the door lock striker. Remove the striker. On the rear door DO NOT remove the stabilizer. Pin remains in place for the adjustment.
2. For up, down, forward or rearward adjustment, loosen the hinge to hinge pillar bolts.
3. For inboard or outboard adjustment, loosen the door to hinge bolts.
4. Move the door within the door opening to achieve the best alignment and operation.
5. Install the striker to approximately the proper position.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

6. Adjust the door striker. Refer to Front Side Door Lock Striker Adjustment (Adjustments).

Tighten the front door striker bolts to 25 Nm (19 lb ft).

7. Check the seals for proper engagement.

Notice: When fasteners are removed, always reinstall them at the same location from which they were removed. If a fastener needs to be replaced, use the correct part number fastener for that application. If the correct part number fastener is not available, a fastener of equal size and strength (or stronger) may be used. Fasteners that are not reused, and those requiring thread-locking compound, will be called out. The correct torque values must be used when installing fasteners that require them. If the above procedures are not followed, parts or system damage could result.

8. Remove the outer door panel to tighten the hinge bolts.

* Tighten the door hinge-to-door bolts to 30 Nm (22 lb ft).
* Tighten the door hinge-to-body bolts to 30 Nm (22 lb ft).
