Lock Rod/Handle Rod Replacement - Rear Door

Removal Procedure




1. Remove the door trim panel. Refer to Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement (Coupe) (Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement (Coupe))Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement (Sedan/Wagon) (Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement (Sedan/Wagon)). The outer panel is removed in the illustration to show the location.
2. Cycle the window to the full up position.
3. Partially remove the water deflector to access the openings in the door structure.
4. Remove the rods as required.

Installation Procedure

Important: The rod retaining clips used in the door lock levers and mechanisms are not re-usable. Retention characteristics are minimized once a rod is extracted. The clips must be replaced every time a rod is extracted.


Important: To adjust the rods, it is necessary to remove all of the tension on all of the components. Turn the rod adjustment end until it will insert into the retention clip with no tension on the assembled components.


1. Install the rods.

3. Install the door trim panel. Refer to Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement (Coupe) (Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement (Coupe))Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement (Sedan/Wagon) (Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement (Sedan/Wagon)).
