Cylinder Head Disassemble






1. Remove intake and exhaust manifolds:
a. Remove spark plugs.
b. Remove the nine intake and seven exhaust manifold mounting nuts and stud.
c. If cylinder head studs come out, nuts should be removed from studs, threads cleaned, and studs carefully installed.
Torque: 13 Nm (115 inch lbs.)





2. Remove the hydraulic lifters. A magnet will easily pull the lifter out of its bore. Do not use pliers or a sharp object. Keep lifters in order.





3. Remove the valves and stem seals:
a. Using valve spring service tool SA9124E, remove the valve spring cap retainers.

NOTICE: Be careful not to damage valve stems during cap and retainer removal.

b. Remove the caps, springs, and valves.





c. Using seal removal service tool SA9102E-A, remove the valve stem oil seal.

IMPORTANT: Arrange the disassembled parts (caps, seals, springs, and valves) in correct order.
