Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.

Diagnostic Paragraphs

These paragraph steps are in four major categories; fuses, grounds, power circuits and components.
The fuse category informs you of the fuse name, location and circuits the fuse controls. With this information you can quickly check to see if a fuse is damaged.
The ground category informs you of the grounds; splices, circuits, splice pack, etc., that are common to different electrical systems. If a ground is bad, this information will help you in locating the problem faster.
The power circuit category informs you of the power circuits feeding the system you are diagnosing. With this information is the circuit wire color, wire gage, and a brief description of what the circuit is operating.
The component category informs you of the components of the system diagnosed. It also may give you troubleshooting information to help troubleshoot the component.
Always verify that the system operates after a circuit is repaired, or if a component has been replaced. A System Performance Test included in most electrical systems helps you verify system operation.
Once you become familiar with the electrical systems used on Saturn vehicles you can use the Complaint-Condition Cause charts as a thought starter for electrical diagnosis.
