COMPRESSOR PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE

REMOVAL

IMPORTANT: Verifying the purity of the refrigerant with a refrigerant purity identifier before recovery is recommended.

1. Recover refrigerant using an approved refrigerant recovery system.

CAUTION: DO NOT REMOVE HOSES OR LINES BEFORE SYSTEM IS FULLY DISCHARGED.

2. Remove hose bolt from compressor high side and remove hose.

3. Remove pressure relief valve.

INSTALLATION

NOTE: Use only R-12 Refrigerant oil (mineral) to lubricate O-rings. Use of R-134a (PAG) oil will cause premature corrosion of fitting joints.

1. Lubricate pressure relief valve O-ring with new R- 12 mineral compressor oil. Install valve and torque to specification.

Torque:
Compressor Pressure Relief Valve: 7.2 N.m (63 in-lbs)

2. Lubricate and install new O-ring on discharge hose with R-12 Refrigerant oil (mineral). Install high side hose to compressor high side port. Torque to specification.

Torque:
Discharge Hose-to-Compressor: 25 N.m (19 ft-lbs)

3. Evacuate, charge, and leak test the A/C system.
