Horn: Service and Repair

HORN ASSEMBLY

REMOVAL




1. Remove left headlamp assembly.
2. Remove two headlamp attachment bolts.
3. Disconnect headlamp bulbs and turning signal sockets from headlamp housing.
4. Lift headlamp housing to remove.
5. Disconnect horn connector.
6. Remove horn bolt.




(1) Horn connector.
(2) Horn.
(3) Horn bolt.
(4) Left front motor compartment rail.
(5) Forward lamp harness - horn lead.
7. Remove horn assembly.

INSTALLATION
1. Install horn assembly, lining up horn bracket to rail.
2. Install horn bolt.

Torque:
Horn Bracket-to-Frame Rail Bolt: 10 N.m (89 in-lbs)


3. Connect horn connector.
4. Align headlamp attachment bolts over J-clips and push lamp down until seated.
5. Install headlamp bulb sockets and turn signal socket into headlamp housing. Rotate sockets to lock in place.
6. Install attaching bolts.

Torque:
Headlamp Attachment Bolts: 6 N.m (53 in-lbs)


CAUTION: HALOGEN BULBS CONTAIN A GAS UNDER PRESSURE. HANDLING A BULB IMPROPERLY COULD CAUSE IT TO SHATTER INTO FLYING GLASS FRAGMENTS. TO HELP AVOID PERSONAL INJURY:
- TURN OFF THE HEADLAMP SWITCH AND ALLOW THE BULB TO COOL BEFORE CHANGING BULBS. LEAVE THE HEADLAMP SWITCH OFF UNTIL THE BULB CHANGE IS COMPLETE.
- ALWAYS WEAR EYE PROTECTION WHEN CHANGING A HALOGEN BULB.
- HANDLE THE BULB ONLY BY ITS BASE. AVOID TOUCHING THE GLASS.
- DO NOT DROP OR SCRATCH THE BULB. KEEP MOISTURE AWAY.
- PLACE THE USED BULB IN THE NEW BULB'S CARTON AND DISPOSE OF IT PROPERLY. KEEP HALOGEN BULBS OUT OF THE REACH OF CHILDREN
.

7. Check headlamp aim. Adjust if required. Refer to "Vehicle Headlamp Aiming" procedure in the Body Front End.
