Air Cleaner Housing: Service and Repair

AIR CLEANER HOUSING AND DUCT ASSEMBLY

REMOVAL




1. Open clamp at throttle body.
2. Disconnect fresh air hose at air duct.
3. Remove air cleaner housing cover and air duct.

IMPORTANT: Removing this assembly provides access to the EGR valve, coolant sensors, fuel rail, fuel line, fuel system Schrader(R) valve, upper starter bolt, canister purge solenoid, ignition module, and PRNDL switch.

4. Disconnect electrical connector at the intake air temperature (IAT) sensor.
5. Remove plastic fastener at top of resonator and remove resonator.
6. Remove the three air box fasteners and remove assembly.
7. Inspect assembly for cracks or damage. A damaged assembly can cause noise. Replace if cracked or damaged. The air box has a hole in the bottom for water drainage. The hole must be free of debris.

INSTALLATION




1. Install the air box assembly and assembly attaching screws.

Torque:
Air Cleaner/Resonator Attachment Bolts (All): 10 N.m (89 in-lbs)


2. Connect electrical connector at the intake air temperature (IAT) sensor
3. Install the resonator. Insert the end of the resonator into the air box assembly opening.
4. Install the resonator push in plastic fastener.
5. Install air cleaner tube and air box cover. Attach air box clips and close clamp at throttle body.

Torque:
Throttle Body Clamp: 2 N.m (18 in-lbs)


6. Connect fresh air hose at air duct.
