Removing Rust Protection From Service Parts

REMOVING RUST PROTECTION FROM SERVICE PARTS

IMPORTANT: Some service parts may have a rust preventative coating on them. This coating must be removed prior to installing the part into the transaxle. All parts should be used immediately after cleaning. Do not let parts sit for more than six hours once the rust protection is removed.

The following steps should be followed to remove rust protection prior to part installation:
1. Remove part from packaging.
2. Using solvent cleaner and a stiff brush, scrub all areas of the part under a constant flow of solvent or submerged in solvent.

CAUTION: WHEN USING SOLVENT PARTS CLEANER, REVIEW ALL SAFETY PROCEDURES RECOMMENDED BY YOUR SUPPLIER, STATE AND LOCAL AGENCIES.

3. Fully flush all internal oil passages with a constant flow of solvent.
4. Wipe part dry with a clean, lint free towel, and install part within six hours of removing rust protection.
