OUTPUT SHAFT DISASSEMBLY

- J 44378 Press Adapter

DISASSEMBLY





IMPORTANT: The 4th driven gear is a very tight press and may require up to 89 kN (10 tons) of force.

1. Press off the 4th driven gear using a separator plate (1) and Press Adapter J44378 (2).





IMPORTANT: The 3rd driven gear is a very tight press and may require up to 89 kN (10 tons) of force.

2. Remove 3rd driven gear using a separator plate (1) and Press Adapter J44378 (2).





3. Remove 5th gear (1) and caged needle bearings (2).





IMPORTANT: Do not contact thrust washer under reverse gear.

4. Remove bearing bushing using a separator plate (1) under reverse gear, Press Adapter J44378 (2), and a hydraulic press.





5. Remove the following components as an assembly:
^ Bearing bushing (1)
^ 5th gear blocking ring (2)
^ 5th/Reverse synchronizer assembly (3)
^ Reverse blocking ring (4)
^ Reverse gear (5)
^ Caged needle bearing (6)





IMPORTANT: Ensure the separator plate is not making contact with pinion gear before pressing off the bushing and thrust washer.

6. Remove bushing and thrust washer using Press Adapter J44378 (1), a separator plate (2), and a hydraulic press.
