Removal

REAR DRIVE MODULE (RDM) - REMOVAL

REMOVAL

CAUTION: MAKE SURE VEHICLE IS PROPERLY SUPPORTED AND SQUARELY POSITIONED ON THE HOIST. TO HELP AVOID PERSONAL INJURY WHEN A VEHICLE IS ON THE HOIST, PROVIDE ADDITIONAL SUPPORT FOR THE VEHICLE OPPOSITE FROM WHICH COMPONENTS ARE BEING REMOVED.





1. Remove rear drive axles.
2. Disconnect intermediate exhaust pipe from down pipe.





3. Remove exhaust muffler and resonator.

IMPORTANT: Index mark the propshaft rear flange to rear drive module flange for reassembly.





4. Remove propshaft rear flange attachment fasteners.





5. Remove propshaft front flange attachment bolts.





6. Remove propshaft center bearing to underbody fasteners.
7. Move propshaft forward in vehicle to disengage rear flange from rear drive module. Remove propshaft from vehicle.
8. Disconnect rear drive module vent hose.

IMPORTANT: Discard used nut.





9. Remove rear drive module rear bracket fasteners from frame support.

IMPORTANT: Discard used nut.

10. Remove left and right rear drive mount fasteners from frame support.
11. Remove rear drive module from vehicle.
