Road Test Procedure

Road Test Procedure
Conditions
Verify that the automatic transmission fluid is between 50-80°C (120-176°F).

Purpose
A complete road test is done in order to accomplish one of the following:
^ Verify that a customer concern actually exists
^ Diagnose a symptom malfunction accurately
^ Confirm that the automatic transmission is functioning properly after a repair is completed

Procedure
PARK Range Test
1. Park the vehicle on a grade of greater than 5 degrees.
2. With the gear selector in the PARK position, release the service and parking brakes if applied. There should be little or no initial movement in the vehicle. This procedure is done to verify that the park pawl (702) is properly engaged with the front differential transfer drive gear assembly (14).

DRIVE Range Test
1. Road test the vehicle in order to verify that the automatic transmission assembly has the correct up-shift, down-shift, kick-down and torque converter clutch (TCC) lock up operation at the shift points as listed in the Shift Speed table.
2. Decelerate the vehicle in order to verify correct engine brake operation.
3. Verify that there is no abnormal shock, noise, slip, and/or harshness during the course of normal operation.
