PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE

REMOVAL

IMPORTANT: Verifying the purity of the refrigerant with a refrigerant identifier before recovery is recommended.




1. Recover refrigerant using an approved refrigerant recovery system. Measure the amount of oil lost during recovery and record.

CAUTION: MAKE SURE VEHICLE IS PROPERLY SUPPORTED AND SURELY POSITIONED. TO HELP AVOID PERSONAL INJURY WHEN A VEHICLE IS ON A HOIST, PROVIDE ADDITIONAL SUPPORT FOR THE VEHICLE ON THE END FROM WHICH COMPONENTS ARE BEING REMOVED.

2. Raise vehicle.

CAUTION: DO NOT REMOVE HOSES OR LINES BEFORE SYSTEM IS FULLY DISCHARGED.

3. Remove pressure relief valve from suction/discharge hose block.

INSTALLATION

NOTE: Use R-12 refrigerant oil (mineral) to lubricate O-rings. Use of R-134a (PAG) oil will cause premature corrosion of fitting joints.

1. Lubricate pressure relief valve O-ring with new R-12 mineral compressor oil. Install valve and torque to specification.

Torque:
Pressure Relief Valve: 10 N.m (88 in. lbs.)
