Purpose
The purpose of this bulletin is to update all 2004 and 2005 ION Service Manuals with revised information regarding the sealant used when installing the backup lamp switch. Please obtain all of the 2004 and 2005 ION Service Manuals and make the necessary corrections as indicated below in the Transmission Section of each manual.
The SI website will be updated immediately and future Service Stall System SI CD releases will include this and other Service Manual updates.
1. 2004 ION Service Manual, Volume 2 - Transmission Section - Page 7-188. Cross out step 72 and write in: "Install the backup lamp switch using pipe sealant (Saturn P/N 21485278, GM P/N 12346004 [US] or 10953480 [Canada], or equivalent)."
2. 2005 ION Service Manual, Volume 3 - Transmission Section - Page 7-236. Cross out step 72 and write in: "Install the backup lamp switch using pipe sealant (Saturn P/N 21485278, GM P/N 12346004 [US] or 10953480 [Canada], or equivalent)." The torque specification for both model years remains unchanged.
