Condenser Hose Replacement

CONDENSER HOSE REPLACEMENT

TOOLS REQUIRED
- J 43600 ACR 2000 Air Conditioning Service Center
- J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.




3. Remove the nut that secures the condenser hose to the evaporator hose assembly.
4. Remove the condenser hose from the evaporator hose assembly.
5. Install the cap on the evaporator hose assembly to prevent moisture entry and oil spillage.
6. Release the condenser hose from the rail clamp.




7. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
8. Remove the bolt that secures the condenser hose to the condenser block fitting.

CAUTION: Do not remove hoses or lines before system is fully discharged. System may be under pressure and contact with R134a may cause personal injury.




9. Remove the screws from the condenser hose clamps.
10. Remove the condenser hose from the condenser clamps.




11. Remove the condenser hose from the condenser block.
12. Install a plug into the condenser block to prevent moisture entry and oil spillage.
13. Remove and discard the seal washers.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Remove the condenser block plug.
2. Install new seal washers.
3. Install the condenser hose to the condenser block fitting.




4. Install the screws that secure the condenser hose to the condenser block fitting.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions

Tighten the screw to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).




5. Install the condenser hose into the condenser clamps.

Tighten the fasteners to 6 N.m (53 lb in).




6. Lower the vehicle.
7. Remove the evaporator hose cap.
8. Install a new seal washer.
9. Install the condenser hose to the evaporator hose assembly.
10. Install the nut that secures the condenser hose to the evaporator hose assembly.

Tighten the nut to 12 N.m (106 lb in).

11. Install the condenser hose into the inner rail clamp and close.
12. Connect the negative battery cable.
13. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
14. Using J 39400-A , leak test the fittings of the component.
