Power Steering Hose Assembly

Power Steering Hose Assembly Replacement (L81)






Important: The factory power steering hoses are installed as a bundle, but are serviced separately. The power steering hoses do not need to be bundled for installation.

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the power steering reservoir cap.
2. Disconnect both power steering hoses at the power steering gear.
3. Remove the power steering hoses to transaxle clamp bolt.





4. Disconnect the power steering return hose from the reservoir.





5. Remove the power steering hoses to cylinder head clamp bolt.
6. Disconnect the power steering pressure hose from the power steering pump.
7. Remove the power steering hose assembly from the vehicle. Note the routing for installation.
8. When replacing a power steering hose. Drill out the rivets of the bundle straps. Discard the assembly straps.

Installation Procedure






Important: The power steering hoses do not need to be strapped together as a bundle for installation.

1. Route the hoses to the vehicle as noted during removal.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Important: Before tightening the power steering hoses at the steering gear, assure the hose routing to the transaxle attachment point.

2. Connect the power steering return hose to the steering gear.
Tighten the power steering hose fitting to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.).
3. Connect the power steering pressure hose to the steering gear.
Tighten the power steering hose fitting to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.).
4. Attach the power steering hoses to the transaxle.
Tighten the power steering hose to transaxle bolt to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).





5. Connect the power steering return hose to the reservoir.
Tighten the clamp to 2.5 Nm (22 inch lbs.).





6. Attach the hose to the cylinder head.
Tighten the power steering hose to cylinder head bolt to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
7. Connect the power steering pressure hose to the power steering pump.
Tighten the power steering hose fitting to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.).
8. Fill and bleed the power steering system.
