GM OIL LIFE SYSTEM - RESETTING
The GM Oil Life System calculates when to change the engine oil and filter, based on the vehicle use. Anytime the oil is changed, reset the system so the next required oil change can be calculated. If the oil is changed before the Change Engine Oil light turns on, reset the system.

After Changing the engine oil, preform the following steps:
1. Turn the ignition to "RUN", with the engine off.
2. Fully press and release the accelerator pedal 3 times within 5 seconds.
3. If the "Change Engine Oil" light flashes, the system has been reset. The light will flash for up to 30 seconds or until the ignition is turned off.
4. If the light comes on again and stays on for 30 seconds at the next ignition cycle, the system did not reset. Reset the system again.
