Drive Axle Shaft Seal Replacement (AWD Right)

Removal Procedure





1. Raise and support the vehicle.
2. Remove the lower tube assembly and drain the 4M fluid. Allow at least 5 minutes for the fluid to drain completely.
3. Remove the drive axle assembly. in Wheel Drive Shafts.





4. Remove the transfer case (PTU).





5. Remove the O-ring seal from the torque converter and differential housing assembly. Discard the seal.

Installation Procedure





1. Install a new O-ring seal on the torque converter and differential housing assembly.





2. Install the transfer case (PTU).
3. Install the drive axle assembly. in Wheel Drive Shafts.
4. Lower the vehicle.
5. Inspect the alignment and align as necessary.
6. Using Saturn DEX-CW fluid P/N 22688912, fill the transmission to the proper level.
