EGR Valve: Service and Repair

EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION (EGR) VALVE REPLACEMENT

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Turn OFF the ignition.




2. Disconnect the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve electrical connector.
3. Remove the EGR valve retaining nuts.
4. Remove the EGR valve assembly.
5. Remove the gasket.
6. Clean the EGR valve mating surface.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE




1. Install the EGR valve with a new gasket to the engine.
2. Install the EGR valve nuts.

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Tighten the nuts to 22 N.m (16 lb ft).

3. Connect the EGR valve electrical connector.
