86. Main Control Valve Body Assembly Overhaul

Main Control Valve Body Assembly Overhaul

Main Control Valve Body Disassembly, Inspection, and Assembly





1. Remove the following from the main valve body assembly (250):
- Oil cooler check ball (228) and spring (227)
- Servo valve body filter (211)
- Torque converter check valve (225) and return spring (226)





2. Remove the bore plug retainer clip (207) from the main control valve body assembly (250).
3. Remove the bore plug (206) from the main control valve body assembly (250).
4. Remove the CPC valve (205) from the main control valve body assembly (250).
5. Remove the CPC valve return spring (204) from the main control valve body assembly (250).
6. Remove the bore retainer plate (210) from the main control valve body assembly (250).
7. Remove the shift valve E return spring (209) from the main control valve body assembly (250).
8. Remove the shift valve E (208) from the main control valve body assembly (250).





9. Remove the bore retainer plate (210) from the main control valve body assembly (250).
10. Remove the relief valve return spring (213) from the main control valve body assembly (250).
11. Remove the relief valve (212) from the main control valve body assembly (250).
12. Remove the bore plug retainer clip (207) from the main control valve body assembly (250).
13. Remove the bore plug (217) from the main control valve body assembly (250).
14. Remove the lubrication control valve return spring (216) from the main control valve body assembly (250).
15. Remove the lubrication control valve (215) from the main control valve body assembly (250).





16. Remove the bore plug retainer clip (207) from the main control valve body assembly (250).
17. Remove the bore plug (220) from the main control valve body assembly (250).
18. Remove the lock-up shift valve (219) from the main control valve body assembly (250).
19. Remove the lock-up shift valve return spring (218) from the main control valve body assembly (250).
20. Remove the bore retainer plate (210) from the main control valve body assembly (250).
21. Remove the modulator valve return spring (201) from the main control valve body assembly (250).
22. Remove the modulator valve (202) from the main control valve body assembly (250).





23. Remove the bore retainer plate (210) from the main control valve body assembly (250).
24. Remove the shift valve A return spring (241) from the main control valve body assembly (250).
25. Remove the shift valve A (242) from the main control valve body assembly (250).
26. Remove the bore plug retainer clip (207) from the main control valve body assembly (250).
27. Remove the bore plug (206) from the main control valve body assembly (250).
28. Remove the shift valve B return spring (239) from the main control valve body assembly (250).
29. Remove the shift valve B (240) from the main control valve body assembly (250).





30. Remove the bore retainer plate (210) from the main control valve body assembly (250).
31. Remove the shift valve D return spring (236) from the main control valve body assembly (250).
32. Remove the shift valve D (237) from the main control valve body assembly (250).
33. Remove the bore plug retainer clip (207) from the main control valve body assembly (250).
34. Remove the bore plug (231) from the main control valve body assembly (250).
35. Remove the lock-up timing valve return spring (230) from the main control valve body assembly (250).
36. Remove the lock-up timing valve (229) from the main control valve body assembly (250).

Inspection





1. Inspect the main valve body for scoring or damage.
2. Clean bores and passages.
3. Check all valves for wear or damage. If a valve does not operate, refer to General Valve Body Service.

Installation
1. Install the shift valve D (237) into the main control valve body assembly (250).
2. Install the shift valve D return spring (236) into the main control valve body assembly (250).
3. Install the bore retainer plate (210) into the main control valve body assembly (250).
4. Install the lock-up timing valve (229) into the main control valve body assembly (250).
5. Install the lock-up timing valve return spring (230) into the main control valve body assembly (250).
6. Install the bore plug (231) into the main control valve body assembly (250).
7. Install the bore plug retainer clip (207) into the main control valve body assembly (250).





8. Install the shift valve A (242) into the main control valve body assembly (250).
9. Install the shift valve A return spring (241) into the main control valve body assembly (250).
10. Install the bore retainer plate (210) into the main control valve body assembly (250).
11. Install the shift valve B (240) into the main control valve body assembly (250).
12. Install the shift valve B return spring (239) into the main control valve body assembly (250).
13. Install the bore plug (206) into the main control valve body assembly (250).
14. Install the bore plug retainer clip (207) into the main control valve body assembly (250).





15. Install the lock-up shift valve return spring (218) into the main control valve body assembly (250).
16. Install the lock-up shift valve (219) into the main control valve body assembly (250).
17. Install the bore plug (220) into the main control valve body assembly (250).
18. Install the bore plug retainer clip (207) into the main control valve body assembly (250).
19. Install the modulator valve (202) into the main control valve body assembly (250).
20. Install the modulator valve return spring (201) into the main control valve body assembly (250).
21. Install the bore retainer plate (210) into the main control valve body assembly (250).





22. Install the relief valve (212) into the main control valve body assembly (250).
23. Install the relief valve return spring (213) into the main control valve body assembly (250).
24. Install the bore retainer plate (210) into the main control valve body assembly (250).
25. Install the lubrication control valve (215) into the main control valve body assembly (250).
26. Install the lubrication control valve return spring (216) into the main control valve body assembly (250).
27. Install the bore plug (217) into the main control valve body assembly (250).
28. Install the bore plug retainer clip (207) into the main control valve body assembly (250).





29. Install the CPC valve return spring (204) into the main control valve body assembly (250).
30. Install the CPC valve (205) into the main control valve body assembly (250).
31. Install the bore plug (206) into the main control valve body assembly (250).
32. Install the bore plug retainer clip (207) into the main control valve body assembly (250).
33. Install the shift valve E (208) into the main control valve body assembly (250).
34. Install the shift valve E return spring (209) into the main control valve body assembly (250).
35. Install the bore retainer plate (210) into the main control valve body assembly (250).





36. Install the following into the main valve body assembly (250): Oil cooler check ball (228) and spring (227) Servo valve body filter (211) Torque converter return spring (226) and check valve (225)
