Control Module: Service and Repair



Transmission Control Module (TCM) Replacement

Removal Procedure





1. Raise the hood.
2. Lift up the right end of the hood seal.





3. Lift up the right side of the cowl cover.





4. Remove the nuts from the transaxle control module (TCM) cover.





5. Lift the cover off of the studs.
6. Depress the lock and rotate the connector lever down.
7. Disconnect TCM electrical connector.





8. Depress the lock tab holding the TCM in the carrier.





9. Lift the TCM straight up to remove the TCM from the carrier.

Installation Procedure





1. Insert the TCM into the carrier.
2. Push straight down until the TCM bottoms in the carrier and the lock tab clicks.





3. Connect the electrical connector to the TCM.
4. Rotate the connector lock up past the lock tab to seat the connector.
5. Install the TCM cover over the studs.





6. Notice: If the transaxle control module cover nuts are over-tightened, damage to the mounting studs may occur.

Install and tighten the TCM cover nuts.
^ Tighten the TCM nuts to 3 Nm (27 inch lbs.).





7. Install the right side of the cowl cover.





8. Important: The TCM must be reprogrammed when a service replacement module is installed or a DTC 602 will result. Programming and Relearning

Install the right end of the hood seal.
