Exhaust Heat Shield Replacement
Removal Procedure
Caution: Ensure that the vehicle is properly supported and squarely positioned. To help avoid personal injury when a vehicle is on a hoist, provide additional support for the vehicle on the opposite end from which the components are being removed.
1. Remove the catalytic converter.
2. Remove the manifold exhaust pipe.
Important: The exhaust and catalytic converter heat shields overlap and utilize common rivet attachment points.
3. Remove the exhaust heat shield nut.
4. Drill out the exhaust heat shield rivets.
5. Remove the exhaust heat shield.
Installation Procedure
1. Position the exhaust heat shield to the vehicle and place the rear of the shield under the catalytic converter heat shield.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice.
2. Install the exhaust heat shield nut.
Tighten the nut to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
3. Install NEW exhaust heat shield rivets.
4. Install the manifold exhaust pipe.
5. Install the catalytic converter.
