Floor Shift Control Cable Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. If equipped with 2.4L (LAT), remove the battery tray.




2. Disconnect the shift control cable (3) from the range select lever (4).
3. Release the shift control cable retaining clip (2) and remove the cable from the shift control cable bracket (1).
4. Remove the left and right console trim panels.




5. Remove the shift control cable from the automatic transmission shift control.
6. Remove the shift control cable grommet at the cowl.
7. Remove the shift control cable from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

1. Install the shift control cable to the vehicle through the cowl and the carpet.
2. Install the shift control cable grommet in the cowl.




3. Install the shift control cable to the automatic transmission shift control.
4. Install the left and right console trim panels.




5. Install the shift control cable and retaining clip (2) to the shift control cable bracket (1).
6. Install the shift control cable (3) to the range select lever (4).
7. Adjust the cable.
1. Place the shift lever in N (Neutral). Rotate the selector shaft clockwise from P (Park) through R (Reverse) into N (Neutral).
2. With the shift control assembly in N (Neutral) lift the cable connector locking clip up.
3. Push the clip on the cable connector until fully seated and flush with cable body.
8. If equipped with 2.4L (LAT), install the battery tray.
