Theft Deterrent Module Replacement

Removal Procedure
Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution (Battery Disconnect Caution) .

Important: When replacing the control unit, before removing the control unit, carry out a "Reset" using Tech 2. For reprogramming procedures, refer to Control Module References (Programming and Relearning) .



1. Disconnect the battery.
2. Remove the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement (Steering Wheel Replacement) .




3. Remove the lower steering column panel.

* Remove the 5 bolts (arrows).
* Remove the ignition lock panel (1).





4. Remove the column integration module (CIM).

* Remove the 3 bolts (1).
* Disconnect the wiring harness holder (arrow).
* Release the wiring harness plug (2) and disconnect.





5. Remove the theft deterrent module.

* Release the 2 clips (1, 2).
* Remove the module.




Installation Procedure

1. Install the theft deterrent module.
Install the 2 clips.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice) .

2. Install the CIM.

* Connect and lock the wiring harness plug.
* Connect the wiring harness holder.

Tighten the 3 bolts to 2.5 N.m (22 lb in).


3. Install the lower steering column panel.
Install the ignition lock panel.

Tighten the 5 screws to 2.5 N.m (22 lb in).

4. Install the steering wheel. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement (Steering Wheel Replacement) .
5. For reprogramming procedures, refer to Control Module References (Programming and Relearning) .
