Variable Valve Timing Solenoid: Service and Repair



Camshaft Position Actuator Solenoid Valve Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Open the hood.
2. Place a drain pan underneath.
3. Disconnect the wiring harness from the cylinder head.




4. Remove the 2 valves, camshaft position actuator solenoid (3).

* Disconnect the 2 wiring harness plugs (1).
* Remove the 2 bolts (2).
* Remove the 2 camshaft position actuator solenoid valves from the bearing support.




Installation Procedure

1. Install the 2 valves, camshaft position actuator solenoid.

* Insert the 2 camshaft position actuator solenoid valves all the way.
* Coat the seal rings with clean engine oil.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice) .

* Tighten the 2 bolts.

Tighten the 2 bolts to 6 N.m (53 lb in).

* Connect the 2 wiring harness plugs.

2. Connect the wiring harness to the cylinder head.
3. Inspect the engine oil level and correct if necessary.
4. Close the hood.
