Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

Transmission Control Lever Boot Replacement

Removal Procedure

Important: If the selector lever is not in the P position when the vehicle is left standing for a long period the battery can run flat. To prevent the battery from discharging, always remove the ignition key from the ignition lock when leaving for a period, including overnight.

1. Carefully remove the selector lever boot (1) from the selector lever cover.
Slide the boot upwards.
2. Release the selector lever.

* Use a suitable tool to push the release lever (2) on the selector lever lock solenoid switch forwards (arrow) and hold in this position.
* Press the lock control on the selector lever and disengage the selector lever from the P position.

Installation Procedure

Clip the selector lever boot into the selector lever cover.
