Headliner: Service and Repair



Folding Top Headlining Trim Panel Replacement

Caution: Do not attempt to repair or alter the head impact energy-absorbing material glued to the headliner or to the garnish trims. If the material is damaged, replace the headliner and/or the garnish trim. Failure to do so could result in personal injury.



Removal Procedure





1. Remove the folding top cover. Refer to Folding Top Cover Replacement (Folding Top Cover Replacement) .
2. Drill out the rivets as follows:

1. Rear rail seal retainer support panel, 4 rivets per side (2).
2. Number 4 bow, one rivet per side (3).





3. Remove the rivet from the balance link, one per side (1).
4. Remove the headliner screws from the number 1 bow.
5. Disengage the J-hooks from the number 3 and 4 bows of the headliner.
6. Remove the plastic retainer to the number 4 bow.



Installation Procedure


Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice) .

1. Install the headliner screws to the number 1 bow.

Tighten the headliner screws to 2 N.m (18 lb in).





2. Install the rivet to the balance link, one per side (1).




3. Install the rivets as follows:

1. Rear rail seal retainer support panel, 4 rivets per side (2).
2. Number 4 bow, one rivet per side (3).

4. Engage the J-hook to the number 3 and 4 bows to the headliner.
5. Install the folding top cover. Refer to Folding Top Cover Replacement (Folding Top Cover Replacement) .
