Battery Replacement

Removal Procedure





1. Disconnect the negative battery cable (2). Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Service and Repair) .
2. Remove the wheelhouse liner. Refer to Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement (Base) (Service and Repair)Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement (Turbo) (Service and Repair) .
3. Lower the vehicle.
4. Open the positive battery cable connection cover.
5. Loosen the positive battery cable nut.
6. Remove the positive battery cable (1).




7. Remove the front fender rear bracket to side rail bolts.




8. Remove the front fender to front fender rear bracket upper (1) and lower (2) bolts.
9. Remove the front fender rear bracket.




10. Remove the battery hold down retainer bolt and retainer.

Important: Do not tip the battery more than 40 degrees during removal.


11. Remove the battery.



Installation Procedure






Important: Do not tip the battery more than 40 degrees during battery installation.


1. Install the battery.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice) .

2. Install the battery hold down retainer and bolt.

Tighten the bolt to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).





3. Install the front fender rear bracket.
4. Install the front fender rear bracket to side rail bolts.

Tighten the bolts to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).





5. Install the front fender to front fender rear bracket upper (1) and lower (2) bolts.

Tighten the bolts to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).





6. Install the positive battery cable (1).
7. Tighten the positive battery cable nut.

Tighten the nut to 17 N.m (13 lb ft).

8. Close the positive battery cable connection cover.
9. Install the wheelhouse liner. Refer to Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement (Base) (Service and Repair)Front Wheelhouse Liner Replacement (Turbo) (Service and Repair) .
10. Connect the negative battery cable (2). Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (Service and Repair) .
