Variable Valve Timing Actuator: Service and Repair

CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY

REPLACEMENT

NOTE: When disconnecting the battery terminal, initialize the following system after the terminal is reconnected.
- Power window control system
- Sliding roof system

1. DISCONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL
2. REMOVE ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY NO.1




3. REMOVE CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY
a. Disconnect the camshaft timing oil control valve connector.
b. Remove the bolt, then remove the camshaft timing oil control valve.

4. INSTALL CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY




a. Apply a light coat of engine oil to the O-ring of the camshaft timing oil control valve.




b. Install the camshaft timing oil control valve with the bolt.

Torque: 9.0 N.m (90 kgf.cm, 80 in.lbf)

NOTE: Make sure that the O-ring is not cracked or jammed when installing.

c. Connect the camshaft timing oil control valve connector.

5. CONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL

Torque: 5.4 N.m (55 kgf.cm, 48 in.lbf)

6. CHECK FOR ENGINE OIL LEAKAGE
7. INSTALL ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY NO.1
