Removal

2AZ-FE EMISSION CONTROL: EXHAUST MANIFOLD CONVERTER: REMOVAL

1. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER

2. REMOVE NO. 1 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR Removal

3. REMOVE AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR Removal

4. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY

(a) Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor connector.





(b) Remove the 4 bolts and 2 compression springs and remove the front exhaust pipe assembly.





(c) Remove the 2 exhaust pipe gaskets from the front exhaust pipe assembly and exhaust manifold converter sub-assembly.

5. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD CONVERTER SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the bolt and nut and remove the manifold stay.





(b) Remove the bolt and nut and remove the No. 2 manifold stay.





(c) Remove the 5 nuts and remove the exhaust manifold converter sub-assembly.





(d) Remove the exhaust manifold to head gasket from the cylinder head sub-assembly.

(e) Remove the 4 bolts and remove the No. 1 manifold converter insulator.





(f) Remove the 2 bolts and remove the No. 2 exhaust manifold heat insulator.
